Door of Faith is Krishna Das' first recording featuring original songs, invocations and Sanskrit prayers recorded with classical western instruments such as violin, cello, piano, trumpet, organ, acoustic guitar alongside traditional Indian instruments such as the esraj and harmonium. Produced by Rick Rubin (who also handled production duties on Krishna Das’ last recording, the acclaimed Breath of the Heart), Door Of Faith is an intimate soul portrait of a man connected with his inner spirit. It is transforming in its depth of devotion. Krishna Das’past four records formed a foundation that prepared him and his audience for this transcendent recording. While the call and response participation of the audience lent itself to the live emotion of the classic Kirtan setting, the Door Of Faith sessions were recorded in the utmost intimacy in Rick Rubin’s home enabling Krishna Das to create a personal space where he could forget about the recording process and connect with his personal God.
