"This book represents an excellent entry level text which will be a powerful learning aid to any student or newly qualified practitioner, and provides a quick and easy point of reference; a text book which all therapists with an interest in the treatment of trigger points, should have close to them at all times. All schools providing courses that include any aspect of trigger points should place this book on their recommended book list."

Product Description

The Concise Book of Trigger Points has been written for the student and early practitioner of massage / bodywork, physical therapy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, sports therapy, and any other health-related field. Containing full-colour illustrations, it is a compact reference guide, and explains how to treat chronic pain through trigger points - tender, painful nodules that form in muscle fibres and connective tissues.

The first four chapters provide a sound background to the physiology of trigger points, and the general methods of treatment. The following six chapters are organized by muscle groups; each two-page spread features detailed colour illustrations of each major skeletal muscle, and straightforward text identifying each muscle's origin, insertion, action, and function. In addition, the author discusses the physiological implications of the trigger points in each muscle, and techniques for treatment.

Amanda Williams (Illustrator) graduated from Middlesex University with a first-class honours degree in Graphic Design (Scientific Illustration). Since then she has worked as a freelance illustrator for various publishers, including Harcourt Brace, Elsevier Science, and The Royal College of Surgeons.

Simeon Niel-Asher B. Phil., B.Sc., (Ost.), qualified as an osteopath in 1992. Simeon uses trigger point therapy in his every day work and is the inventor of the Niel-Asher technique(TM) for treating frozen shoulder syndrome. Named by the Evening Standard newspaper as one of the Top 10 osteopaths in London, he is author of the best selling Treat your own Frozen Shoulder book and DVD. He is involved in treating, research, writing, and teaching throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the USA.

"Probably the clearest, most concise and comprehensive presentation of the trigger point picture I have ever read. Eminently practical and clinically useful."
Dr. Richard Bachrach, D.O., F.A.O.A.S.M, a US doctor who has been at the forefront of trigger points use for more than 20 years
